A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he's used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother's suicide. It's loud, you're in a kitchen, there's so much going on, it's chaotic. It's overwhelming... and it feels like it's about to bubble over but then it does this amazing thing: It gives you little teases of people's lives outside of the shop.

I couldn't watch it and stay focused, it was just not that good. So I watched the first season while doing other stuff, just to get through it. Some scenes were just too stressful and not enjoyable. The interpersonal relationships were not interesting enough for to me to be sure who was connected and what their past was. And the wort part is that this show won Emmys in the comedy category pushing out the opportunity for ACTUAL comedies to win. At most this is a drama with humor in it, but in no way is this a comedy.
