Textured Crochet Waffle Stitch Blanket
Thanks to crochet’s naturally thick construction, you can expect a cozy blanket every time you stitch one. But, if you want to take the cozy factor to the next level, you must try a textured crochet stitch. That’s why I decided to crochet a waffle stitch blanket – it provides warmth and weight, and the chunky stitches give your fingers something to fidget with.
The Molly Waffle Blanket aims to add that DIY twist to your home decor. The chunky stitches and subtle picot border encourage you to stick around for one more episode – you don’t have to swap your laundry just yet *wink*. It also makes for an unforgettable gift for newlyweds, new homeowners, and kiddos heading off to college. The time and effort you put into a present like this waffle stitch blanket will not go unnoticed. Grab your oversized hook and get going on your new favorite blanket.
Soothing color palette for crochet
Creating cohesive color palettes in crochet can seem daunting, but I’m here to make it easy. In this blog post, I covered several of my favorite color palette shortcuts, including using analogous colors for a soothing color palette.Analogous colors mean the colors sit next to each other on the color wheel, which tends to create a low-contrast, relaxing color palette that is pleasing to the eye.
In the case of the Molly Waffle Blanket, I went with pink (a derivative of red) and purple, which sit next to each other on the color wheel. By using Lion Brand’s Hue + Me yarn, I made my waffle stitch blanket shine, using colors that were intentionally created to match well together. You can build dozens of analogous palettes with this yarn, including green to blue, orange to brown, and every neutral in between.
