Skodel - get valuable wellbeing data on your organisation

Interesting results from TasNetworks psychological survey. A number of hidden concerns, and not minor concerns. From stress to sexual assault. Two important quotes:"Our people are suffering and they're not even confident enough to report to us so we can formally take action so that's our challenge to change that”"What struck me about this was I have a small number of people, important people, who are feeling really terrible and dreading coming into work and that's what we need to address."With Skodel our aim is not just to give people a safe space to share issues but to address these complex issues for organisations and individuals. We don’t want to leave organisations with a raft of problems and no solution in place to support.#psychologicalsafety #mentalhealth

Staff psychosocial surveys are 'new ground' for companies. This one just uncovered hundreds of concerns — ABC News apple.news

Adam Simmonds shares his honest dialogue and personal experience.😔 Is it down stigma? The culture of drinking and drug taking in hospitality? Is it our ego meaning that we would not accept help if we asked for it?Get in touch with Michelle Righini to find out about the training We Recover Loudly provides hospitality businesses to not only create safe workplace environments, but also provides training on how best to support your team members if they are struggling with a misuse disorder. We need to break the silence and burn the stigma around addiction in our industry and start offering help.Email Shell now 👉 hello@werecoverloudly.com#addictionawareness #addictionawarenessweek

Are you being bullied in the workplace? Report the bullying. If it falls on deaf ears here are some options for the next steps:1. Document everything, such as emails and other evidence to provide to HR.2. Look up your State's laws about legal audio or video recording your bully. For example, in Colorado, there is a "One Person Consent" law that allows victims of bullying to audio record their conversations with their bullies without their bully's knowledge or consent, but they MUST be within conversation with their bully. It is illegal to record conversations you are not a part of. 3. Find a support system in your workplace if possible. Ask them to accompany you to any meetings with the bully in question.4. If your manager or upper leadership is the bully, document and report it to HR. If your organization does not have an HR department you may need to go to the Board of Directors or other entity above the leader bullying you. 5. Stick to the facts. Facts stand out more and are more relevant, but feelings may be expressed once facts are presented.6. If all else fails and you have enough documented evidence to claim workplace harassment, discrimination, or bullying, consult a legal advisor.7. Or... if you do not want to pursue that, you may need to resign and find a less toxic work environment. You must choose what is best for you.

#Employers, did you know that #DryJanuary is a perfect opportunity to create and launch a workplace alcohol strategy if you don’t have one. Sobriety can be a personal choice or part of a person’s recovery from alcoholism. Employers can support people by promoting weeks such as #AddictionAwarenessWeek and make it ok for people to share stories and ask for support. By opening up avenues for well-being communication, employers can strip away the shame that stops people getting help sooner, impacting their career and personal life. Making #alcohol – or any form of #addiction for that matter – the same as opening up about mental health.⬇ #ForwardTrust #TakingActiononAddiction #RecoveryIsPossible

Good to see the balance of views on this issue of crime and antisocial behaviour in Auckland CBD.Trespassing people is not the solution - the evidence is clear and tells us punitive approaches don’t work and actually create more issues in the longterm. We absolutely need a coordinated approach to solve these social issues for our city. We need to work together and look at evidence-based solutions

Bullying impacts victims in a variety of ways - physical pain, psychological impact, social losses, economic issues. It also creates problems for organizations - employees are not able to do their best work, the organization will lose good people (and turnover is expensive), people will skip work to avoid their bully, and people will not recommend your company as a place to work. #bullying #stopworkplaceabuse
